Cycle Audits

We understand that this email campaign about (the lack of) cycle audits and failure to implement council policy has been successful.
We have not received any formal reply or acknowledgement from Leigh Bramall (Chair of Transport Committee)

BUT

informally we have been told that:
cycle audits on transport works will start forthwith;

our cycle lane policy (attached) is to be discussed and properly considered at the Cycle Forum, particularly wrt Streets Ahead, eg repainting cycle lanes;

Transport and Highways may make an appt of a new member of staff to help with this work;

The next Cycle Forum on 19th March will have in attendance four senior bods: Les Sturch, Director of Development Services – and the Council’s Cycle Champion; John Bann, Head of Transport and Highways; Simon Botterill Traffic Section, Dick Proctor, Traffic Planning.

So we think the agenda will be a discussion of the nature of cycle audits and what to do about cycle lanes – especially as they are affected by the refurb of Streets Ahead.
It may be that the Highways planners and engineers work with us to develop a coherent procedure and view of the how and what of cycle audits and cycle infrastructure design
or
they may well try and identify inconsistencies in our policies and disagreement amongst cyclists in order to discredit our views and/or to show that we have incoherent views that are too disparate to use in local transport planning.

We don’t know so we will prepare for the worst and we hope for the best.
