CycleSheffield has been invited to take part in final stages of the ‘Look North’ Tour de France tandem ride which is going on all this week with presenters Harry Gration and Amy Garcia cycling the very tough first two stages of the TdF.
http://www.justgiving.com/tandemtour
So please come along and ride with Harry and Amy as they roll into Sheffield. Two opportunities:
Meetup 12:30 on Penistone Road outside Hillsborough Football Ground to ride out and meet them coming in from Grenoside, then follow the route to Meadowhall, arriving there around 3pm,
Meet again at 5:30 at Meadowhall (location tba) for the final short ride to the English Institute for Sport
This is a great opportunity for Sheffield cyclists to be seen and we’ll probably have a chance to talk about how we are working to develop cycling in the city so it feels important to get a good turnout.
If you want to come let me know which section/s by email to chris@chrisrust.net
include your mobile No and I’ll try to set up a text notification system for the day
but it’s important to be checking your email for progress or know somebody who is, especially where to meet at Meadowhall. We may not know that until after 4pm.
Please make the effort, a decent sized gang of us will make a real difference.
thanks
Chris Rust

We’ll be putting on a Sheffield FridayNightRide around our fair city on Fri 24 Jan and may get out to Darnall to look at the only example of where cycling infrastructure was ‘integrated’ with housing on the Greenland estate.
Do you have one night’s accommodation to offer?
Some delegates to the above meetings may like the offer of accommodation for the night of Fri 24 Jan. For example, I am offering 1 dble rm, not en-suite, B&B. If you are willing to put somebody up that evening please let me know. Get in touch with me at mick.nott@googlemail.com
February. The Council’s Scrutiny Committee should be publishing its report on cycling in Sheffield. There will be much campaigning work to follow up with this; can Sheffield City Council get its act together and see that cycling links its ambitions for clean air, healthier and happier citizens, easing traffic congestion, making travel safer for all, and having quality public spaces, as well as its ambitions for promoting the city as a centre for green tourism?
Start to plan Bike Week, finalise our budget for next financial year, and continue with Space for Cycling campaign work.
CycleSheffield meeting Mon 3 Feb
March. Work on our campaigns and invitation to Jack Scott, Cllr i/c Air Quality Action Plan to attend our meeting to talk about the action point, Promoting smarter travel choices

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, Cycle Rotherham, RMBC, Pedal ready and Stonham/Home Group Volunteers have come together to promote cycling in the town, and more particularly, to encourage biking to Saturday home matches.
Surveyed bike parking, and free bike check and repairs will be available.
Do yourself and the Millers a favour.
Biking to New York is good for your health, and your pocket.
And is very good for Rotherham United in reducing match day congestion, and helping to promote a positive image of your club.(Taken from the Millers site)
A few smiling cyclists helping to hand out some flyers, between 14.00 and 15.00, would be really very welcome. Cheers For any more info please contact: Paul Truin. Volunteer Coordinator Stonham/Home Group Rotherham. 07843596321
Its seems that the final shift of our cycling paramedic will be on Friday 25th October.
In recognition off all the hard work that Jonathan has put in over the years we thought we should ride back with him to the Middlewood road ambulance station for the very last time.
Meet up at the town hall just before 6pm to ride back with him.
